Funny Birthday January

The Bird Exhibition

The peutrén ( Colorhampus parvirostris ) is endemic to the Andean Patagonian forest. It is most commonly heard than seen. Her singing is just a long whistle that resembles a deflated balloon. Bosuqes live in high, between the tops of the coihues, away from the bird watchers. In winter low, escaping the cold and seeking refuge in the leafy trees, such as those in the school yard where I work. There I first saw the window of my classroom in August 2006. I remember looking out to see if long run and there was snow, huddled on a branch, only 50 cm as a beautiful little flea perched in the tree. Immutable he and I were watching a long five minutes. Then I returned to my class and he flew. Hoping to see you again I kept the window watching the next few days but never returned.
few days later and ending in August, went for a walk around the neighborhood with my kids and we saw very high among the tops of some coihues. I remember that discussions on the subject, a specialist told me that "it was a very fanciful description of peutrén." I laugh at the memory still: "They are very small, fly high between coihues and cypress forest in my neighborhood (...) body rather stocky, gray face, chest, ribbed, light belly. Bill black, light black line on crown, black iris, behind the macho black eye (may be it was high inthe shadow of the new shoot coihue). Shoulder white shirts with tan line. Rectrices darker. Three specimens in the coihue, restless and curious. Coming and going, and posing for clearly see. "
Since then I have not seen since. If I heard several times in the Path of Llao Llao, on the northern slope of Cerro Otto, in the Valley Challhuaco. But see, never before hoy.Como know, classes are suspended. I'm also several evenings going to tidy up some things from my computer room. Obviously, I have a camera and binoculars, hoping to rediscover the long peutrén. Today I was given. I arrived at noon, put things, I looked out the window and there he was with his whistle and continuous jumps from branch to branch. I admit that I did not take even a good picture, but they confirmed my sighting was three years ago, when he was a rookie in such exercises to observe and identify birds. Also wanted the camera to record their behavior but do not focus on the bird, hidden among the leaves, jumping, looking suspiciously at the viewer, with their whiskers clearly noticeable as a good tyrant and colors browns and grays that blend with the environment. This small peutrén
made my afternoon.
