Video HD options on the market
turning to the issue of buying an HD camera to be installed on the kayak since experiments with mini DV not go very well.
Enredando a bit I made a selection of possible candidates basing on the minimum price and performance record from the kayak.
is the most widespread and known from all the models offered by the brand I would stay with the GoPro Hero HD 960 (€ 220 approx), it is the economic version of the HD GoPro Surf (320 € aprox).
The Hero 960 has little to envy in the quality video to your older sister and that records in the following formats and qualities:

Runs on rechargeable lithium-ion 1100 mAh, lasting approximately 2.5 h (charging time 2 h with USB cable).
A feature of this camera is the "One Button Mode" blocking the camera to video or photo and automatically start recording once the camera is turned on. This makes it easier to capture the best moments, as though it is off, with a simple click on and start recording it possible to save enough battery. Is a feature that can be turned on or off to suit the user.
Weighs 167 g (including housing and battery) and measures 42x60x30 mm.

In short:
the GoPro camera I see a very comprehensive picture quality buenisima multiple accessories to be mounted on either site. The price is slightly high but in my opinion is worth. The main drawbacks are the lack of screen and remote control, which means an installation in the kayak near the crew, the ideal is to install back in high position, so that record behind us. The battery life seems sufficient, in any case you can put an extra battery to double the duration lengthens pro about 66 €.
Drift model rule it out for kayaking because it is not waterproof and could leave us an unexpected turn the camera useless. It would be interesting to boats or other sport that is not in direct contact with water.
The Kodak is a very economical alternative to a high quality video, and the great advantage of remote control at an affordable price, plus a color screen. Well suited to capture videos underwater by submarine mode.
would be ideal to install on the bow pointed at the fisherman. To use it in serious kayak essential to include the panoramic lens would increase the price of 20 €. The main drawback I see is the limited battery life that can severely limit your opportunities and is also a drawback the lack of supports for the kayak dock.
Finally Evo HD's strong point is the small size, maybe more suitable for video capture more specific for example installed on a rod, a cap or similar, share the drawbacks of the GoPro has no display or control and the price is only bit lower.
I would choose the Kodak but for the low battery life so I'm afraid I'll have to save a "little" more and opt for the GoPro.
