Cocks 72H, data transfer and editing. Portable Garmin GPS 72H

In this post I will explain briefly how to transfer and edit data stored in the GPS via a PC.

first thing we need is the program Garmin Mapsource, you can download the free version on the official website of GARMIN . It is also interesting (but not required) to download and install the webupdater to update the firmware on our unit.

Once installed it is very easy to use, first connect the GPS to PC through miniUSB cable and turn it on. subsequently run the Mapsource program that when opened displays A window like the one pictured left.

To transfer the GPS information to the PC must click on the icon highlighted with a red circle in the photo, is actually two icons, one to dump the GPS data to your PC and the other for the reverse.

After the transfer we see in the tab highlighted in blue , maps, marks, routes and tracks stored. By selecting the tabs appear in a list of points in the box highlighted in green and placed all routes, tracks and marks on the map.
For details of routes, tracks or marks only have to select them from the list and double clicking on any, will open a window where you can also see the details (distances, coordinates, etc.) to edit any information (icons, names, etc)

The images belong to an older version of the program in English (can be upgraded for free to utime English version).

The world map brings up the default program is quite simple without Nigun kind of topographic details even if you can get more detailed maps.
can also view routes and tracks on earth google maps very similarly. Run the program and select the tools tab GPS, a window where we have to specify the brand of GPS, then we click on download and ready, at the end show the routes on the map.
